Conveyor Orders Show Recent Surge

The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reported that its September 2011 Booked Orders Index was 218, up 56 points or 35% from August 2011’s Index of 162. The September index represents an increase of 35% from the September 2010 Index of 161.

The September Booked Orders Indexes were 296 for Bulk Handling Equipment and 195 for Unit Handling Equipment. The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 166 in September, representing an increase of 3% from August 2011’s Twelve-Month Index of 161.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 184 in September, which is a decrease of 1% from August 2011’s Index of 185. The September 2011 Index represents an increase of 30% over the September 2010 Index of 142.

September Billed Sales Indexes were 306 for Bulk Handling Equipment and 158 for Unit Handling Equipment. The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 159 in September, an increase of 2% over August 2011’s Twelve-Month Index of 156.
