INDIANAPOLIS-ASAP Automation and Bastian Material Handling (past recipient of Material Handling Management's Value-Added Award) have partnered with Purdue University to outfit their Supply Chain Management Technology Lab (SCMT Lab) with advanced picking hardware and software to heighten the in-class experience of running a supply chain and distribution operation.

ASAP and BMH understand the importance of a quality education to prepare students for a successful career in industry. The supply chain and material handling industries are no different, but there are only a few places where students can get a true feel for these environments inside the classroom. Phase 1 installation on the SCMT Lab includes 8 "Pick-to-Light" locations with each location being controlled by a single device to display pick quantity. It also includes 8 "Pick-to-Display" locations where each device will control two locations (up and down) and display both quantity and location information.

For more than 17 years, ASAP Automation has used advanced automation technologies and Supply Chain Execution Software (SCE) to help businesses execute their strategic goals. ASAP Automation is dedicated to creating advanced information systems for the automation of supply chain logistics. The innovative software products developed help companies throughout the world better compete in their individual markets and implement their strategic business goals.

BMH is one of the countries larger independent material handling system integrators. They specialize in well engineered, value-driven system solutions in the manufacturing and distribution environments. BMH brings together best of breed technologies with in-house controls, software, and project management to ensure their customers' strategic business goals are met.
