Three Houston-area high school graduates received $1,000 scholarships from Cat Lift Trucks (Houston, Texas) as part of its 2005 scholarship program. More than 330 students from an eight-county area submitted applications. The scholarship winners are: Jason Fochtman, Kingwood High School; Emily Fortuna, James E. Taylor High School; and Bruce Jaynes, B.F. Terry High School. Fochtman plans to major in mechanical engineering at Texas Christian University, while Jaynes will pursue the same major at Texas A&M University. Fortuna plans to attend Rice University, where she will major in computer science.
