Dollar Tree Finds Rapid Deployment Solution

Scottsdale, Ariz. - August 19, 2003 - JDA® Software Group Inc. announced that $2.3 billion Dollar Tree Stores, Inc., the U.S.' largest $1.00 discount variety store chain, is using JDA Portfolio® Advanced Store Replenishment by E3(tm) ("Store Replenishment") software to support select stores following a 60-day pilot implementation.

The long-time JDA client plans to rollout Store Replenishment throughout its chain of more than 2,440 stores in 47 states to further optimize its in-stock position and service levels while reducing its inventory investment.

According to Ray Hamilton, Dollar Tree's chief information officer, the Virginia-based retailer already relied on Advanced Warehouse Replenishment by E3(tm) for computer assisted ordering at its distribution centers so the next logical step was to introduce advanced replenishment at its stores. Although Dollar Tree uses several Portfolio products including Win/DSS® store system, key modules of Portfolio Merchandise Management System-i(tm) (MMS®), Performance Analysis by IDEAS® data warehouse and Portfolio Advanced Planning and Allocation by Arthur(tm) products, Hamilton required benchmark tests for the Store Replenishment product.

Benchmark Verifies Scalability, Performance of Store Replenishment Using actual Dollar Tree data and a comparable hardware environment, the benchmark tests proved that Store Replenishment could scale to meet Dollar Tree's daily-end and period-end replenishment processing requirements in half the targeted time.

"Based on both projects' success, I am confident that Store Replenishment will help us to further enhance sales and inventory management while better utilizing labor costs," comments Hamilton. "The store managers involved in the pilot have already realized a productivity boost as they no longer order manually. Our stores also gained greater visibility to what's on hand, on order or in transit so we can better serve our customers with fully stocked shelves."

"As retailers meticulously scrutinize their technology investments, we are well equipped to help them make strategic, fact-based decisions," states Peter Charness, JDA's senior vice president of global marketing and chief product officer. "Our skilled consultants have access to state-of-the-art resources so we can simulate how Portfolio products will perform in any potential business scenario. The Dollar Tree stress tests proved that Store Replenishment is another JDA product fully optimized to support symmetrical multiprocessing, which is critical for meeting tier one replenishment requirements."

"This rapid deployment proves our ability to get our clients live and achieving benefits in the best time frames in the industry," adds Charness.
