The LD (Light Duty) model is powered by a DC Electric motor, carries 800 pounds of cargo plus two passengers. The XD model is powered with the AC motor system and capable of hauling 1,000 pounds on the 71 inch x 44 inch deck. Fairplay says the AC system has low torque characteristics and is low maintenance due to the brushless motor design.
Options such as front disc brakes for added stopping power, heavy duty leaf springs for increased load capacity, canopy top and upgraded battery configurations for increased range are all available. According to Fairplay, all HOSS vehicles are equipped with a 2-inch receiver and on-board battery chargers so the operator can plug in whenever the vehicle is parked near standard 110 volt power.
