MEMPHIS, Tenn.—FedEx Corp. will increase the net average shipping rate for FedEx Express by 4.9%, effective Jan. 7, 2008.

The rate, which applies to U.S. and U.S. export express package and freight shipments, reflects a 6.9% increase in standard list rates offset by a 2% reduction in fuel surcharge.
Rates for inbound shipments to the U.S. from “certain international locations” will also increase by Jan. 7, FedEx announced.

Rates and surcharges for FedEx Ground will also rise, and FedEx said it will announce those changes later this year.

The company also announced that, starting next year, FedEx Express customers importing goods into the U.S. will pay U.S. dollar rates.
