PANAMA CITY, Panama—Grainger, a distributor of facility maintenance products, has opened
its first branch in Panama.

"Grainger selected Panama as its second expansion market in Latin America, after Mexico, because it offers exciting business opportunities and a business-friendly environment," says Bonnie McIntyre, vice president, international market development at Grainger.

The 23,000-square foot showroom and store facility houses more than 20,000 products, including motors and power transmission equipment, electrical, lighting, cleaning and painting supplies, safety equipment, material handling products and power tools. In addition to walk-in business at the new branch, Grainger provides a Spanish-language catalog, phone and Web site. The firm also maintains a network of sales representatives throughout Panama.

In keeping with its history of giving back to the communities in which it operates, Grainger will contribute $30,000 of facilities maintenance products to Sistema Nacional de Protección Civil (SINAPROC), Panama’s disaster preparedness and response agency. The donation will include items such as power saws, rescue equipment, winches, hydraulic jacks and other tools.
