Invista and Kenco Celebrate 32 Years Without a Lost-Time Accident

Sept. 29, 2009
Invista, a producer of polymers and fibers for nylon, spandex and polyester applications, has recognized Kenco Logistic Services (KLS) for propelling an Invista warehouse to a sky-high landmark of 32 years without a lost-time accident.

KLS, a third-party logistics provider (3PL), has managed Invista’s 690,000 square-foot warehouse in Chattanooga, Tenn., for more than 40 years. On Sept. 13, according to KLS, the Invista facility set a national record in the logistics and distribution industry.

Invista produces the well known Lycra, Stainmaster, Antron and Coolmax fabric, fiber and carpet brands. The company is a subsidiary of Koch Industries Inc., based in Wichita, Kan.

“Safety is critical, not only for the people involved in our operations, but also for greater efficiency, productivity and profitability,” says Lane Baker, manager of distribution services for Invista’s North American region. “Kenco has been a long-term partner helping us reach this industry milestone.”

“We have learned a great deal from Invista about working safely and strove to develop this culture within our organization for the benefit of Invista and all our customers,” adds Greg Johnson, KLS’s general manager of the Chattanooga facility.

KLS manages three additional Invista facilities, including locations in Seaford, Del.; Lyndhurst, Va.; and Lugoff, S.C. The 3PL provides storage, inventory fulfillment and repacking as well as shuttling service between plant and warehouse and trailer spotting.
