Jervis B. Webb Company (Farmington Hills, Mich. ), a provider of material handling solutions, announced its selection as one of Michigan’s 2007 “Cool Places To Work.” Award winners were recognized by the American Society of Employers based on an evaluation of key qualifying factors such as policies, benefits and “Talent Management” practices. Sixty companies were designated as “Cool Places to Work” and were ranked according to company size.

"We have worked diligently to not only attract the best talent, but also provide a positive environment that fosters creativity, as well as high quality productivity. We are extremely honored to be selected from a statewide pool of very qualified candidates for this coveted distinction.”

Among the company’s internal initiatives are various team building and social functions. These include a company-sponsored golf league, a bowling league, employee hockey games, as well as whirly ball and volleyball tournaments. Employees also have a “Sports Apparel Day”

where they are encouraged to show-off their favorite team’s jersey.

Included in its on-the-job incentives, Webb offers employees ice cream socials, lunchtime cookouts and special afternoon treats. Webb employees also can decompress with weekly massages, or take advantage of the on-site barber. Also available are free tickets to sporting events and discounted prices for various concerts.

Social responsibility and personal well-being are also a focus at the Webb Company. The company encourages employees to participate in the American Cancer Society’s annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk and provides CPR training to all interested employees. The company also underwrites 50% of the registration fee for employees who want to participate in the Weight Watchers at Work program in addition to paying full cost for employees who desire to quit smoking through the American Lung Association’s Freedom from Smoking program.
