Libbey Glass, a division of Toledo, Ohio-headquartered Libbey Inc., recently opened a new 646,000-sq.-ft. distribution center in Shreveport, La. The facility will serve the southeast and lower mid-western states, and the company's export business. Office space comprises 10,000 sq. ft. of the building; the remaining space houses product racks and 59 shipping bays. The new distribution center consolidates services previously provided by six buildings.

"We needed a larger capacity facility, under one roof," said Don Pendergrass, Shreveport Logistics Manager for Libbey Glass. "Libbey is also implementing a new warehouse management system. The system optimizes shipping and receiving functions when used in one big box instead of six separate buildings.”

Bob Moore Construction Company of Arlington, Texas, built the new facility.
