Following a comprehensive study into the provision and application of software solutions for the third-part logistics (3PL) industry, the Awards Committee at the Global Institute of Logistics announced that it has designated MARC Global as the recipient of its "Global Supply Chain Execution Solution 2004" accreditation. The year-long study conducted by the institute draws on a quality-ranking system based on responses provided by solution vendors within the 3PL sector. The research was commissioned in response to the demand for benchmarking in the area of supply chain execution (SCE) and warehouse management systems (WMS) solutions. The institute reviewed 12 leading SCE solution providers as part of its research effort.
"The committee was eager to invest its accreditation in an organization that had a proven track record in working with global, multi-site 3PLs and an obvious desire to continue to invest in the third-party revolution," said Kieran F. Ring, chief executive of the Global Institute of Logistics. "MARC Global displayed fulfillment excellence through it SCE technology with in-depth experience in multi-site rollouts.”
"MARC considers the 3PL sector to be highly strategic and of growing importance," said Oliver Cooper, CEO of MARC Global. "Many of the innovations that MARC offers, including our high-performance architecture, Decision Data on Demand (MARC 3D), and Enterprise RFID, are driven in part by our research and development in the 3PL market. We are pleased to be recognized as the top 3PL execution solution by an organization with the credentials of the institute. I believe this achievement recognizes the strength of our products as well as the dedication of our people to MARC's growing, worldwide customer base. The fact that 3PLs serve multiple industries clearly demonstrates the adaptability of our products, and our ability to support key industries such as automotive, CPG, high tech, life sciences, publishing and retail," added Cooper.
Warehouse management systems are designed to direct the flow of material both into and out of specific storage locations, in an ordered sequence, based upon a predetermined set of operational parameters. The institute, in its research of WMS solutions, specifically looked at a range of factors applied by those in the information technology sector that are contributing to the development and advancement of logistics and best practices in the sector. These include applications functionality, implementation and support capability, supplier stability, and management vision.
