CHARLOTTE, NC – June 28, 2006 – SATO America, a global leader in barcode printing, labeling and EPC/RFID solutions, today announced the introduction of its latest OEM Print Engine, the Lt408. The new Lt408 is designed to meet the needs of the entry-level print apply market.

The Lt408 OEM Print Engine is the ideal print apply solution for small to mid-sized manufacturers looking to automate the labeling process on low-throughput, labor-intensive production lines. Although the applications are low-throughput, the combination of a high performance, 32-bit, RISC CPU and 16MB of RAM, enables the Lt408 to efficiently output even the most complex label formats.

“The launch of the SATO Lt408 entry-level print engine is a milestone in SATO’s efforts to make automated labeling systems a cost-effective solution for the small to mid-sized manufacturing market,” said Bob Lanzendorf, SATO’s OEM Sales and Marketing Manager. “Essentially, we are combining SATO’s tradition of high-quality, durable OEM print engine solutions with an entry-level feature set. This winning combination will appeal to thousands of manufacturers that, until now, have not been able to justify the expense of automating their labeling applications.”

With its unique plug-in interface design, which allows for a wide variety of host communication options, its large LCD display and icon-driven user interface for easier and more intuitive operation, its bi-directional ribbon drive for greater ribbon compatibility, and its use of SPL, SATO’s industry-leading programming language, the Lt408 OEM Print Engine delivers on its promise.

The available interface options include:

  • IEEE 1284 Parallel
  • RS232 Serial
  • RS422/485 Serial
  • Ethernet 10BaseT/100BaseTX
  • Wireless 802.11g

And the Lt408 OEM Print Engine was designed with serviceability in mind, too. The platen roller and feed rollers are each designed for easy removal from the front side of the print engine and replaced in under five minutes…without removing the print engine from the applicator. Additionally, the One-Touch release printhead makes changing printheads simple and completely tool-less.

SATO continues to lead the way with its new, entry-level Lt408 OEM Print engine…durability, performance, and serviceability, all in an economical OEM package.
