HOUSTON-The 2008 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (March3-22) team will have a lighter load to carry this year thanks to the sponsorship of Cat Lift Trucks and Adobe Equipment, Inc., the local Cat lift truck dealer. A total of 88 loaned lift trucks will move thousands of pounds of Texas barbeque and frosty beverages for an estimated 1.6 million visitors attending the world's largest rodeo and premier entertainment event.
In its fourth year of sponsorship, the official lift truck provider will loan HLSR 42 pneumatic tire lift trucks, each capable of lifting 3,000 to 15,500 pounds, 36 pneumatic tire lift trucks, each capable of lifting 8,000 - 11,000 pounds, four pneumatic tire lift trucks capable of lifting 15,500 pounds each and six electric walkies, capable of lifting 4,500 pounds each.
The trucks will be used to move more than 700,000 visitor guides, stock food and beverage stations and transport all of the equipment on the floor of Reliant Stadium in support of the entertainers' stage. The pneumatic tire trucks are manufactured locally at the Cat Lift Trucks headquarters. In addition to helping supply the 82 loaned lift trucks, Adobe Equipment, will also setup the units and be on hand to support all of the donated trucks during the show.
In addition to serving as the Official Lift Truck Provider for HLSR, Cat Lift Trucks will donate two $5,000 scholarships to Houston-area high school seniors attending a four-year college or vocational school. This marks the fourth year Cat Lift Trucks will award the academic scholarships to two outstanding high school seniors from public and/or private schools.
