Syscan Teams With Psion Teklogix To Provide RFID Solutions

Syscan International and Psion Teklogix have joined forces to provide custom RFID solutions for Psion Teklogix' recently launched Workabout Pro.

The Workabout Pro is a Windows CE .NET-based hand-held computer that delivers the flexibility, performance and ruggedness required for data collection in harsh environments, in a user-friendly, ergonomic package. Based on industry standards, the computer provides ease of integration with customer infrastructures while expansion and customization capabilities enable it to meet the needs of the mobile computing, supply chain, logistics and retail markets.

In its first series of innovations, Syscan has successfully integrated its proprietary low- and high-frequency RFID readers along with Identec Solutions' ultra-high-frequency reader into the new Workabout Pro. As a result, it can now empower users with a complete array of reading solutions for RFID-enabled supply chain, logistics and retail management applications.

"We are pleased to partner with Psion Teklogix to bring custom RFID solutions to the agriculture, food, mining and transportation industries," said Axel Striefler president of Syscan. "This partnership enables our customers around the world to leverage Psion Teklogix' mobile computing solutions experience within their specific applications."

Dan Schachtler, regional vice president, Canada, Psion Teklogix, said, "The Workabout Pro is perfect for these types of applications because it is highly modular and allows third parties like Syscan to develop custom hardware solutions. We have worked with Syscan before on the implementation of RFID solutions at the Brochu meat processing plants in Quebec and are impressed with their expertise. We are pleased that now they will be working with us to bring our combined solutions to a substantially wider customer base."
