For at least 4,000 Technology Student Association members nationwide, school's end represents the time to head to TSA's Annual National Conference to compete in more than 60 competitive events. These challenging competitions are based on principles learned through projects in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Taking place June 20-24 at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TSA's 26th Annual Conference will test the technological savvy of its TSA student members. This year's theme is "Visualizing the Next 25 Years of Excellence."

Middle school and high school technology teachers and students prepare all year to compete against their peers in events such as Agriculture and Biotechnology, Construction Challenge, Cyberspace Pursuit, Dragster Design, Flight Endurance, Jaguar F1 Team in Schools, Medical Technology, and Transportation Modeling. Students will participate in leadership activities including the annual business meeting where elections and other parliamentary procedures are conducted

Noted engineer and entrepreneur, Dr. H. Lee Martin will deliver the keynote address during the opening general session at 9 a.m. June 21. Martin has extensive experience in business architecture, and earned 20 U.S. patents, two research and development R&D 100 Awards and the NASA SBIR Technology of the Year Award. In 1986, Martin founded Telerobotics International Inc., to develop robots for hazardous environments.

TSA has partnered with the American Cancer Society for its National Service Project. Conference attendees will have the chance to participate in a Relay Rally Wednesday. Students and teachers from attending TSA state delegations will participate to show support for the research and programs of the American Cancer Society as well to build community spirit.

Conference attendees may check out the latest in technology innovation and more at the Education Fair on Tuesday. Showcasing their latest wares will be exhibitors such as the Applied Technologies, Autodesk, Goodheart Willcox, I-Safe America, International Technology Education Association, Jaguar F1 Team In Schools, Midwest Products, Pitsco, Solidworks, The Art Institutes, The TECHKnow Project, the U.S. Air Force and the American Cancer Society.
