Transportation companies report improved results

C.H. Robinson reported fourth quarter income from operations rose 17.4%. Gross profit for the quarter was up 12% to $125.5 million.
Full-year results for 2002 included a 6% increase in gross profit ($483.8 million). Income from operations rose 16.6% for the year to $156.6 million. Net income was up 14.7% to $96.3 million for the year. www.chrobinson.com

Pacer International reported fourth-quarter gross revenues of $433.2 million, up 8% over 2001. The non-asset third-party logistics and freight transportation provider also reported full-year results for the year ended Dec. 27, 2002. Net revenues increased 5.6% to $349.8 million, with net income of $24.8 million vs. $7.0 million in 2001. (Results for 2001 included a one-time, pre-tax charge of $6.9 million.)
