Dulles, VA - Vastera, Inc. (Nasdaq: VAST), a worldwide leading provider of solutions for Global Trade Management (GTM), announced the availability of a maintenance release for its TradeSphere Exporter solution enabling clients to comply with the recent US Census Bureau amendment to the Foreign Trade Statistics Regulations (FTSR) mandating electronic filing of the SED for items identified on the Department of Commerce's Control List (CCL) and the Department of State's United States Munitions List (USML).

"We notified our clients in advance of the Census Bureau's required changes, which allowed them time to implement the maintenance release and meet the October 18 deadline," said Larry Christensen, Vice President of Trade Content for Vastera. "In addition to the mandatory electronic filing requirement, the government also requires exporters to provide more detailed information about their shipments when they file the Shippers Export Declaration (SED). The TradeSphere Exporter maintenance release provides our clients more control over the submission process and the data they must provide to Census. As for the customers who are planning to file using AES Direct or a forwarder, although they are not directly affected by this mandate, they must still provide the required additional information."
