Managing mobile devices on a shop floor can be challenging, even for the best manager. It just got easier. Radley Corp. (Southfield, Mich.), an automated data collection company, has integrated its X/DC data collection platform capabilities into Intermec (Everett, Wash.) SmartSystems Foundation. The integration lets X/DC users discover, configure, backup, monitor and control Intermec data collection devices from anywhere on the network.

SmartSystems Foundation is PC-based software that configures and deploys data collection systems. SmartSystems Extensions is a collection of interfaces that lets Radley's X/DC integrate into Intermec's SmartSystems Foundation Console. The software automates and can remotely manage the deployment, installation, routine maintenance or software updates, security adjustments and changes in device settings.

Instant messaging to devices and automated version control updates enable better communication among workers and hardware maintenance in warehouses and on the shop floor.
