On Dec. 6 an explosion that might have started in a large propane tank flattened a warehouse operated by Falk Corp. near downtown Milwaukee, killing at least three people and injuring 46 others. The blast flipped cars and hurled debris at the Falk Corp. factory, which makes large industrial gears and couplings. The death toll might have been higher had not managers begun to evacuate workers from the plant after discovering a leak in one of six large propane tanks. Falk was acquired by Milwaukee-based Rexnord Corp. last year.
