StarTrak has a large share of the refrigerated (reefer) segment of transportation in which it offers, by subscription, wireless monitoring and control of critical reefer data, including GPS location, cargo temperatures and reefer fuel levels.

In use, data from mobile reefer units is gathered and transmitted to StarTrak’s data center where it is integrated with customer logistics information and passed on to the client by direct feed or over the Internet. At present, StarTrak has more than 10,000 reefers in service. According to the company, the total potential North American reefer market is between 400,000 and 500,000 units.

“We feel extremely fortunate in acquiring StarTrak,” says Alanco chairman and CEO, Robert R. Kauffman, “as it just begins what we believe will be a period of extraordinary future sales and profit growth.”
