Weekly express service originating in Colombo, Sri Lanka was scheduled to make its first call in Savannah on May 11, the fourth U.S. port of call for the service (following New York, Norfolk and Charleston). The service enhancement reflects growing trade via the Suez Canal route, said APL. The three carriers (APL, Hapag-Lloyd and CMA CGM) operate seven vessels in the Indamex service with capacity ranging from 3,800 to 4,500 twenty-foot-equivalent units (TEUs).

APL had also announced it signed a charter agreement for five new post-Panamax container vessels to be deployed in Transpacific service from 2009.
