TPG, parent of TNT and Royal TPG Post announced it has made a preliminary, non-binding bid for a 25% stake in the Danish postal service, Post Danmark, the first step in a final sales process organized by the Danish government. In separate news, U.S.-based parcel carrier UPS announced international service through UPS Mail Innovations. The business mail service unit handles U.S. mail to international destinations through relationships with international postal authorities. UPS Mail Innovations processes U.S. outbound business mail and transports it to the postal authorities for final delivery.

UPS said the mail services were made possible in large part because of the acquisition in April 2004 of OMNIsort International. The mail unit also provides domestic U.S. mail logistics through a work-share relationship with the U.S. Postal Service.
