Susan Alt has been named president and CEO of Volvo Logistics North America Inc. (www.volvologistics.us), a provider of customized logistics services for the automotive and aviation industries. She was formerly vice president - marketing for Volvo Trucks North America Inc.

Tim Davenport has been named president and CEO of Vastera Inc. (www.vastera.com), a provider of global trade management solutions. He was previously chairman and CEO of Best Software Inc. Davenport replaces Mark Ferrer, who has resigned for personal reasons. Vastera has also named Richard Lefebvre chairman of the board, replacing Arjun Rishi, who will remain a director of the company.

Clifford Currier, a co-founder of The Colography Group (www.colography.com), has died. Currier was instrumental in creating a new approach to researching and analyzing trends in the transportation industry.

Michelle Halkerston has been named president of Hassett Air Express (www.hassettair.com), a provider of time-sensitive freight services, She previously worked in senior management at ShipLogix and Penske Logistics, among others. Terry Sherman remains as Hassett’s chairman and CEO, and Mike Stone becomes senior vice president of operations.

Datatrac Corp. (www.dtrac.com), a software developer and wireless communications solutions provider, has chosen Dennis Hogue as CEO. Most recently he was president and CEO of Mercari Technologies.

James Staley, president and CEO of Roadway Corp. (www.roadway.com), has been appointed chairman of the American Trucking Association’s American Transportation Research Institute. He replaces Michael Wickham, who founded the Institute and served as chairman of Roadway until he retired earlier this year.

Thomas Weidemeyer has retired as president and chief operating officer of UPS Airlines (www.ups.com). He will be replaced by John Beystehner, who was promoted from senior vice president of sales and marketing.
