The company has established Schneider Logistics (Tianjin) Co. Ltd. becoming the only North American truckload provider to establish a domestic business in The People's Republic of China. In addition to providing domestic transportation, it will offer logistics and other related services including warehousing, cross-docking and third-party logistics.
The Schneider strategy in China is to build out its services through a combination of acquisitions and organic growth. It has set up offices in China's Tianjin Economic Technological Development area that exists to encourage development of the BinHai region in northern China.
"We're working it from the inside out--a much different approach than when we first set our sights on the Chinese market five years ago," says Martin Winchell, managing director of Schneider Logistics China. "After spending the last few years conducting primary research and development in China, we see the tremendous opportunity that lies in providing services to the domestic market as the economy grows and the disposable income of the average Chinese citizen is enhanced."
In addition to meeting domestic supply chain customer requirements, Schneider Logistics will be offering international logistics services that are presently under development. The company began providing supply chain consulting services from its Shanghai office in 2005.
