When Maria McIntyre retired from her role as head of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), she didn't just walk away from the profession. She and a group of dedicated professionals have been working with a community college in the suburbs of Chicago to develop a transportation, distribution and logistics overview course. The course kicked off in January, but McIntyre says they have an ongoing need for industry professionals to serve as "guest instructors" to provide various real-world perspectives for students. McIntyre says this course could be the beginning of a broader program, and she is already receiving queries from companies that want to send their staff members and from other education institutions with existing or planned programs.
