According to Genco, 25 GenDrive units will be supplied by Plug Power Inc. in May and June 2010 to power the lift truck fleet at a 450,000-square foot distribution center (DC) in Graniteville, S.C., that Genco manages for Kimberly-Clark.
Genco is using the federal grant, provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, to deploy more than 350 GenDrive units from Plug Power to several of its clients, including Kimberly-Clark.
“Kimberly-Clark continues to explore new ways to increase safety in the workplace and to minimize the impact of our operations on the environment,” says Joe DeYoung, distribution operations manager for Kimberly-Clark’s North American consumer products division.
“We are excited about the opportunity to move this initiative forward,” says Bob Simon, Genco’s project manager. “We’ve had a two-unit pilot program in place with Kimberly-Clark at their Graniteville, S.C., facility and look forward to the many benefits of the full deployment.”
