Conveyor Orders Up, Shipments Down Slightly in February

The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reported that its February 2011 Booked Orders Index was 167, up 26 points or 18% from January 2011’s Index of 141, and an increase of 46% over the February 2010 Index of 114.

The February Booked Orders Indexes were 246 for Bulk Handling Equipment and 142 for Unit Handling Equipment. The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 141 in February, an increase of 4% from January 2011’s Twelve-Month Index of 136.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 133 in February, which is 3% decrease from January 2011’s Index of 137. The February 2011 Index represents an increase of 18% over the February 2010 Index of 113.

December Billed Sales Indexes were 232 for Bulk Handling Equipment and 109 for Unit Handling Equipment. The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 134 in February, an increase of 1% over January 2011’s Twelve-Month Index of 132.
