Pitney Bowes has enhanced its Ascent Package Management software to include the RDI Residential Delivery Indicator. This technology provides insight into carrier surcharges that may apply to residential deliveries so that shippers can compare charges from multiple carriers and identify the best rates and service.

RDI data, supplied directly to customers via a licensing agreement with the U.S. Postal Service, gives Ascent software users information about shipping fees by automatically determining if the USPS considers the address to be residential or commercial. With this information, shippers can better identify the complete cost of shipping to the address. Pitney Bowes' Ascent multi-carrier package management software helps companies of all sizes make the correct shipping decisions for each package, helping to lower costs and maximize productivity. The Ascent software helps shippers and mailers reduce transportation costs while streamlining mail and shipment processing. This multi-carrier shipping solution supports online carrier automation, including UPS, USPS, FedEx and DHL. The software's Smart Shopping function selects only carrier services that meet the delivery and cost of delivery requirements for each package. E-mail and fax shipment notifications can help reduce customer phone calls and improve customer service. www.pb.com
