Scanner Senses Surroundings for Automation [New Product]

March 20, 2014

SICK’s TIM551 2D ranging scanner sends information about surrounding contours via Ethernet using time-of-flight technology. It provides object detection and measurement information regardless of surface and ambient light conditions due to HDDM technology, which provides greater precision at longer sensing distances and an operating temperature range and ambient light tolerance. Suitable for both stationary and mobile applications, the TIM551 can also obtain object size and shape information. With its long scanning range of up to 30 ft, one scanner can be used for monitoring an area up to 2530 sq ft. A rotatable M12 connector provides easy device connection and replacement. Applications include robotics, building automation, mobile-vehicle and conveyor applications.
