TMW Systems Acquires Innovative Computing

TMW Systems has acquired 100% of the outstanding shares of privately-held BetaZone Inc., including its wholly owned subsidiary, Innovative Computing Corp. (ICC). The acquisition of ICC, with offices in Brentwood, Tenn., and Oklahoma City, Okla., will help strengthen TMW’s presence in the transportation industry as a provider of enterprise software for large and mid-range firms, both asset and non-asset-based. ICC provides enterprise operations software designed for the truckload carrier industry. Terms of the transaction were not made public.

According to David Wangler, TMW’s president and CEO, TMW already serves many customers jointly with ICC through its integrated products such as TMT Fleet Maintenance software, IDSC ExpertFuel, IDSC MatchAdvice and IDSC Netwise. “We will continue to sell, support and develop the ICC product line to protect our customer’s technology and platform investments,” Wangler says.

ICC customers will now have greater access to a broad set of business productivity and best-of-breed maintenance and optimization technologies, as well as the R&D and support resources of a larger organization. Existing TMW customers on the System i platform, including TL2000 and TMT Fleet Maintenance, will benefit from expanded development resources and shared best practices with the ICC team. TMW’s Lifetime Support Policy for enterprise software products will be extended to all active clients running currently supported ICC software.

Since 1969, Innovative Computing Corporation, has developed, maintained and supported enterprise operations software designed for the truckload carrier industry, running on IBM mid-range servers, notably the IBM System i or AS/400 platform. ICC serves hundreds of successful firms, including many of the Transport Topics Top 100 For-Hire Carriers. The Innovative Enterprise Software (IES) application is offered in both on-premise and software-as-a-service (SaaS) versions. In recent years, ICC has taken its SaaS offering to market in two versions; one geared for smaller carriers with more than 20 trucks and the other suitable for much larger firms with more complex business requirements.

With the addition of Innovative, TMW now counts more than 1,800 customers in the transportation services and heavy-duty vocational and municipal fleet sectors. Excluding true, non-asset-based customers, the combined firm is responsible for managing more than $62 billion in annual freight spend.
