Aloha, which announced in late March it would close down operations, had formed a tentative agreement to keep cargo services active. Seattle-based Saltchuk Resources has now reached an agreement to purchase the cargo operations for an undisclosed sum.
The cargo operation had employed 300 and was responsible for transporting 85% of the inter-island air cargo moves. It had operated six Boeing 737-200F aircraft.
The operation will be renamed Aloha Air Cargo. The US Bankruptcy Court-appointed trustee will oversee the cargo operations until May 14th when the purchase is expected to be completed.
Saltchuk currently owns and operates Hawaiian Tug and Barge which provides inter-island shipping.
