DHL introduced two new, direct, overnight express services between Shanghai and the U.S. and between Beijing and Hong Kong.

The daily Shanghai-U.S. flight will be operated by Northwest Airlines using a 747-200 freighter. The four-time weekly Beijing-Hong Kong service will use a Cathay Pacific A330-200 passenger aircraft.

The Port of Vancouver will add three Super Post-Panamax cranes, the first of which arrived recently and will be installed at the Vanterm container terminal. “The Post-Panamax cranes are capable of servicing the newest and largest container ships in the world,” said Norman Stark, president and CEO of Terminal Systems Inc. “At a cost of $24 million, they represent new investment that is possible, in part, due to the provincial government’s reform of taxation practices that had been crippling marine terminals.” The cranes are part of a $60 million investment commitment over the next three years to increase capacity. >
