Cats at a Rodeo?

March 5, 2009
While spectators focus on the livestock, the Cats behind the scenes keep the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo moving.

For the fifth year, Cat Lift Truck dealer Adobe Equipment Inc. will provide more than 80 Cat lift trucks to the world's largest rodeo—the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. In addition, Cat Lift Trucks will award two $5,000 scholarships to Houston high school students.

The show and rodeo welcomes an estimated 1.6 million visitors to the 260-acre property at Reliant Park. During the event, the Cat lift trucks will move more than 700,000 visitor guides, transport animal feed and hay, stock food and beverage stations and transport stage equipment. Adobe Equipment technicians will be on hand to support the fleet of lift trucks.

“Cat Lift Trucks is proud to be an integral part of the world’s largest rodeo,” said Kent Eudy, vice president of marketing for Cat Lift Trucks. “We are pleased to support this great Houston event, and having renewed our sponsorship contract through 2013, we look forward to the next five years.”

Cat Lift Trucks involvement with the Rodeo goes beyond lift truck donations. The company will host Big Brothers Big Sisters to a night at the rodeo, provide judges for the rodeo’s Agricultural Mechanics Project Show and invite Texas Future Farmers of America (FFA) Tractor Technical teams to its facility for a plant tour.

The scholarship program is in its fifth year and has donated more than $33,000 in college scholarships. The deadline to submit applications is April 3, 2009. Application forms and scholarship requirements can found at http://www.cat-lift.com or on the Cat Lift Trucks fan page at http://www.facebook.com, search ‘Cat Lift Trucks’.
