Emerson Hires Schneider to Replace Its Private Fleet

Nov. 23, 2009
Schneider National will provide Emerson with a dedicated fleet of 300 drivers

Schneider National, a provider of transportation and logistics services, will take over operations of the Emerson transportation division by the end of 2009. Emerson, based in St. Louis, Mo., manufactures appliances and tools; electronics and telecommunications equipment; industrial automation and process control systems; and heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment. Schneider National will provide Emerson with a dedicated fleet, including approximately 300 drivers, with a majority of the work conducted by teams.

Schneider National plans to hire many of the drivers who previously worked for Emerson. The Emerson Transportation Division was established in 1962 as the private fleet of Emerson. The division maintained 170 trucks in 29 locations across the United States.
