Organized in 1997, the aim of the Association was to provide large and small unionized trucking companies a greater role in helping to create public policy and to give voice to economic issues facing the industry. As the outgoing president and CEO of MFCA, Timothy P. Lynch, notes, “In light of the changes in corporate ownership that have occurred within the trucking industry, association goals can strategically be met through the individual companies or other industry trade associations."

Trucking Management Inc. (TMI) will continue to represent member companies in their relationship with the Teamsters Union, including contract administration and negotiations of the National Master Freight Agreement (NMFA), which currently runs through March 2008. The present executive director of TMI, Jim Roberts, became its president on October 1.

Replacing Jim Staley of Roadway Express as chairman of the board of TIM is James Welch, president of Yellow Transportation.
