NFI has partnered with MediSend to provide transportation of healthcare items for the non-profit aid organization

New Jersey-based NFI has partnered with the non-profit organization Medisend International in an on-going humanitarian effort aimed at closing the widening gap between the availability of medical resources and the increasingly urgent healthcare needs of residents of developing countries. NFI has assisted MediSend by transporting biomedical provisions and equipment from donor hospitals in the US to the non-profit’s distribution center in Dallas, TX, where the items are readied for international shipment to hospitals and clinics in the world’s poorest countries such as Equatorial Guinea, Angola, Chad and Bangladesh.

NFI has frequently mobilized its fleet over the past five years to assist MediSend with the movement of supplies to port. Freight has included electric beds, IV poles and gurneys, as well as delicate technical devices including patient monitors and infant patient warmers.

NFI has also provided crucial transportation services to expedite the movement of emergency aid from MediSend to countries suffering the effects of natural disasters, including the devastating 2005 earthquakes in Pakistan. “NFI never hesitates to support MediSend’s mission. They play a key role in MediSend’s multi-faceted program of transforming healthcare in under-served hospitals,” said Nick Hallack, president and CEO of MediSend International.

“It is a privilege to be able to utilize NFI’s expertise in the swift, efficient transport of essential goods and services to support the efforts of MediSend,” said Ike Brown, vice chairman of NFI and president of the company’s Intermodal division. “When time is of the essence, NFI gets the job done, and, in this case, plays a part in saving lives. It’s an honor to contribute our knowledge to MediSend’s noble cause.”
