Founded in April 1990 with just six trucks and three terminals, Bullocks Express now bills $17 million annually through its network of eight terminals in five states. With the acquisition, the Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL) will grow to 192 service centers.

Bullocks Express less than truckload (LTL) coverage has been to points in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Utah, with overnight service between most major cities in the territory. Among other offerings the LTL Division has same day pick up and an available delivery guarantee. The Logistics Division has full truckload (TL) capabilities and the availability of flatbeds and other specialized equipment. It will move refrigerated cargo in TL or partial loads. The company’s TL Division features 53” Air-Ride Dry Van Trailers and HazMat certified drivers.

In reflecting on the acquisition, Earl E. Congdon, ODFL board chairman said, “Bullocks Express Transportation, Inc is a well-run company with a strong franchise in its five state market and they have built an excellent reputation for providing quality transportation service. The move is consistent with our growth and service strategy, and is also consistent in keeping with our focus of building a world-class multi-regional and inter-regional network. We currently provide direct coverage to 47 states with 100% full state coverage to 38 states. With this acquisition, we will enhance our direct coverage in the states of NM, UT, CO, AZ and TX…This transaction also enhances our current nationwide service offering. Old Dominion customers will receive improvements to an already comprehensive OD-Domestic product offering with the additional direct service offering.”
