The OffPeak hours program runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 pm to 3:00 am and Saturday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Regular daytime shift hours at container terminals at the ports are 3:00 am to 6:00 pm. Since July 2005, the program has helped ease road and terminal congestion during peak daytime hours.
An important aspect of OffPeak for drivers--in addition to reduced traffic (67%)--is the ability to work a more flexible schedule (66%). Drivers (45%) can make more trips per shift, which translates into higher earnings for them. Six months earlier 58% of drivers were making three trips or more per shift. In the most recent survey, 64% of drivers with making three or more trips per shift.
