Under terms of an agreement between the Port of Tacoma Commission (www.portoftacoma.com) and Puyallup Tribe Council, the Port and the Tribe will work together to develop and market properties for maritime use on the East Blair Waterway. The Tribe will move its Emerald Queen Casino out of the port industrial area required for construction of a 171-acre Evergreen terminal. Potential future development of a container terminal will include property currently in use for the casino plus 96 acres purchased from Kaiser Aluminum in 2003.
