The carrier’s 8,000 square foot processing center is in Morrisville, NC, close to Raleigh-Durham’s airport. It will serve those that ship regularly to Canada—as well as US locations—from the Southeastern region, including North and South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida.

Location. Location. Location. Purolator USA feels it has a competitive edge at the fully functional Morrisville distribution facility since it offers consolidation services there. It claims that currently competitors divert freight to more remote locations for consolidation.

Tammy Fairbanks, who manages the Morrisville center, notes that from North Carolina businesses some $4.4 billion in goods and services were exported to Canada in 2006. "Our well-established distribution network means that we can usually deliver customers' goods faster than our competitors can," she says. "Going forward, we will also be able to offer transportation solutions that avoid costly distribution center stopovers."

The carrier also provides small package and express delivery within the US. Over the past year it has doubled its US office network with branches or gateways now operating in Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Detroit, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Philadelphia, Raleigh/Durham and Newburgh, NY.
