Transportation Spot Market Volume Up 10% at July's End

Fuel prices were down slightly for the month but up 2.4% year over year.

For the last week in July, spot market load volume rose 10% and truck posts were flat compared to the previous week, due mostly to increased demand for flatbeds, according to the DAT RateView. Rates rose for reefers and dipped seasonally for vans, but remain strong for late July.

This chart depicts national average spot market ("broker buy") rates.
