Leveraging its radio-frequency identification (RFID) label converting facility in Charlotte, N.C., and its relationship with Avery Dennison RFID (Clinton, S.C.), SATO America is publicly offering 4 by 2-in. Gen 2 RFID labels for 14.9 cents each in single roll quantities.

“The adoption rate of Gen 2 RFID smart labels will revolve around performance and price,“ said Mike Fowler, President of SATO America Inc. “Both SATO and Avery Dennison are committed to delivering a variety of Gen 2 smart labels that are superior in quality and are priced well below current Gen 1 and Gen 2 products.”

A variety of other label sizes and inlay configurations are also available.

“We have reduced our inlay pricing to help our label converting partners like SATO offer RFID labels at a more attractive price point to end users,” said Mat Mellis, Avery Dennison’s vice president of RFID. "Our hope is that lower tag prices will drive faster adoption and higher demand for tags.”

The thermal-transfer-printable labels are also available as a Gen 1 product. The Gen 1 version is available for immediate shipment at this price and the Gen 2 product will be commercially available upon release of SATO’s Gen 2 capable CL408e printer.
