3M (St. Paul, Minn.) acquired SCC Products Inc. and JJ Converting LLC. SCC Products provides engineering, manufacturing and sales of static control packaging

3M (St. Paul, Minn.) acquired SCC Products Inc. and JJ Converting LLC. SCC Products provides engineering, manufacturing and sales of static control packaging and workstation products for electronic devices. JJ Converting produces film used to make static control bags. Both are based in Sanford, N.C. Terms of the transactions were not disclosed.

SCC Products’ flexible packaging products protect electronic devices from damage throughout the production, repair, assembly, installation and transportation processes. The acquisitions will reportedly broaden 3M’s product offerings in electronic market segments.

“We started in the electrostatic packaging business nearly 20 years ago and have steadily developed technologies and vertical integration for the world market,” said Michael Swartz, president, SCC Products Inc. “The combination of our world-class technology with 3M’s global reach and brand will be strong in the marketplace.”

SCC Products Inc. and JJ Converting LLC employ approximately 150 people worldwide.
