Scientific evidence shows that overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun can damage eyes. UV radiation is made up of two types of rays, UVA and UVB. Workers exposed to these rays have an increased risk of developing eye disorders such as macular degeneration, the leading cause of vision loss among older Americans, and cataracts, a major cause of visual impairment and blindness. Gateway Safety has taken a leadership role in promoting the use of strong, lightweight polycarbonate lenses that absorb more than 99.9 percent of both UVA and UVB rays, such as in their 4X4™ Sport safety eyewear.

The 4x4™ Sport is one of the distinctive frame/lens options in the complete 4X4™ line that also includes the 4X4™ Standard and the 4X4™ Style. The 4X4™ line is the ideal eyewear for workers who want high-end style and superior protection at affordable prices. The strong, four-sided, wraparound frame weighs just one ounce, yet combines optimum durability and comfort. The polycarbonate lenses have an anti-scratch coating. A soft inset nosepiece helps ensure comfort with a snug, secure fit, and flexible temple tips relieve pressure behind the ear.

The 4x4™ Sport features a Silver Sport frame and brightly colored mirrored lenses in Sunset Red, Horizon Blue, Iridescent Green, or Sterling Silver, and also meets or exceeds the ANSI Z87.1+ standard.
