ATLANTA, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Logility (Nasdaq: LGTY), a leading supplier of collaborative solutions to optimize the supply chain, today announced that Alberto-Culver Company, an international manufacturer, distributor, and marketer of leading personal care products, has selected Logility Voyager Solutions(TM) to enable collaborative transportation planning and management across its U.S. supply chain network.

The Alberto-Culver Company manufactures and markets leading or major brands including Alberto VO5, St. Ives, Molly McButter, Mrs. Dash and TRESemme, and its subsidiary, Sally Beauty Company, is the world's number one marketer of professional beauty care products.

"Meeting and exceeding our customer's expectations is our number one priority, and Logility Voyager Solutions will help Alberto-Culver boost service to even higher levels while optimizing transportation costs," said Steve Rawleigh, director of customer fulfillment for Alberto-Culver. "We anticipate a quick implementation -- less than 100 days." Alberto-Culver will use Logility Voyager Transportation Planning and Management to optimize shipments of orders to customers.

Voyager Solutions reduce transportation costs and improve customer service by consolidating orders based on destination, required delivery date and carrier. In addition, they can facilitate the complex processes of tendering loads to carriers, tracking shipments with real-time status information, auditing carrier invoices, and improving tactical planning by providing reporting, modeling and simulation tools.

The company also plans to implement Logility Voyager Navigate(TM) and Logility Voyager Fulfill(TM) to efficiently monitor, notify and control supply chain events on an exception basis, both internally and throughout the extended supply chain; and send orders to its carriers on a real-time basis to accelerate shipment planning and meet customer service objectives with its retailers, which are primarily mass merchandisers, grocery stores, drug stores, and ethnic beauty distributors.

"Distribution operations represent a significant portion of the supply chain costs for most personal products companies and the savings from reduced transportation costs go straight to the bottom line," stated Mike Edenfield, CEO and president of Logility. "Logility Voyager Solutions help some of the world's largest personal products companies achieve rapid results including reduced transportation costs and improved on-time delivery, and we look forward to driving significant benefits for Alberto-Culver."
