AmeriCold (Atlanta) has expanded its Albertville, Alabama facility to accommodate the increased space demands of customers in the Southeast. The $12 million, 93,420 sq.-ft. expansion will add an additional 12,000 pallets of storage space and will more than double the size of the facility, creating 4.9 million cubic ft. of total capacity.

Capital improvements on the Albertville facility will include construction of 2.9 million cubic ft. of refrigerated space, the installation of seven blast cells, material handling equipment, and storage racks and pallets. The expansion will accommodate 275 million lbs. of product annually, including 110 million lbs. of blast freezer throughput.

"Alabama is a strategic market for AmeriCold. Due to the area's high concentration of poultry producers, among others, there is strong demand for temperature-controlled warehouse space. We are confident this facility expansion will continue to meet the needs of existing and new customers," says Neal Rider, president and COO, AmeriCold.

AmeriCold is a third-party supplier of supply chain solutions in the consumer packaged goods industry, with a national footprint of 100 facilities. The company handles 60 billion lbs. of freight annually, has more than half a billion cubic ft. of multi-temperature capacity, and employs some 6,500 associates.
