In its annual market survey, Lufthansa Cargo (www.lhcargo.com) predicts a 5.9% growth in global air cargo tonnage in 2004. Two factors the company sites to support its contentions are the continuing expansion of Asian markets and gradual North American economic recovery. In related news, Lufthansa Cargo and DHL (www.dhl.com) are expanding cooperative efforts through mutual operation of five routes that include Asian, European and North American stops. This service is slated to begin on March 28.

In the first month of 2004, KLM Cargo (www.klmcargo.com) saw its Asian-Pacific cargo traffic increase by 11% on 6% higher capacity. With 10% less capacity on North American routes, cargo traffic decreased by 7%.
