Serco says its new high-volume, low-speed (HVLS) fan provides facilities with an energy-efficient cooling and heating solution.

The HVLS fan slowly moves a massive column of air, creating a deep horizontal floor jet that circulates the air in large spaces. The non-disruptive breeze created by Serco’s HVLS creates an eight- to 10-degree cooling sensation. In colder months, the fan enables by running in reverse to circulate the hot air trapped at ceiling level. Serco says heating and HVAC systems can run less often, providing year-round energy savings. The HVLS fan can also contribute to LEED Certification credits, according to Serco. In extreme or humid environments, Serco’s HVLS fan assists in exhausting air and preventing moisture buildup.

The Velocity series fan comes in a variety of sizes and horsepower, and the Velocity-PV is a solar model that can be used for sustainability initiatives and additional energy efficiency. In places where ceiling height or other obstructions may be an issue, the Tilt series fan provides the benefits of HVLS fans on a smaller scale.
