WEST CHESTER, PA – Portescap, has hollow-shafted versions to its family of h3 stepper motors. Hollow shaft models promise increased design flexibility by allowing wires or other media to be routed through the motor shaft, effectively reducing the space required of the motor solution. h3 hollow shaft step motors are available in NEMA 17, 23 and 34 frame sizes (short, one and two stack lengths available in each frame size), with hollow shaft diameters of 4 mm in diameter, 7 mm in diameter and 11 mm in diameter, respectively.
“Adding the hollow shaft design to the h3 stepper provides even greater design flexibility for Portescap customers by enabling them to reduce the space required of the motor,” says Dave Beckstoffer, Product Specialist. “These hollow shaft motors are well suited for use in telecommunications devices, the replacement of pneumatic cylinders and general factory automation applications, and with the ability to provide rapid prototypes and enhanced customization, Portescap can reduce the design cycle of an application while maximizing product output,” he says.
These 1.8-degree step motors feature a unique design that enables them to deliver up to 30+% higher torque than traditional hybrid step motors. They also feature an aluminum housing for superior heat dissipation and lower power consumption, Neodymium iron boron magnets for optimized torque density, and a bearing retainer and o-ring to help reduce motor noise. Larger bearings enable the motor to effectively handle higher side and radial loads.
With industry-leading efficiency and performance, h3 step motors allow machine builders to reduce the size and weight of their machine by utilizing a smaller motor to deliver the same performance of larger hybrid steppers. This further allows machine builders to use smaller drives, which reduces power requirements and overall system costs. Machine builders using the same size h3 as a standard hybrid will realize increased machine throughput.
