ALEXANDRIA, VA—Two new certification systems for front-line material handling workers in supply chain facilities, warehouses, distribution centers and transporters have been launched by the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC).
MSSC describes itself as an industry-led standards-based, training, assessment and certification system focused on the core skills and knowledge needed by the nation’s production and supply chain logistics workers.
The new programs, the Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) and Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) are claimed by MSSC to be the first training, testing and certification systems for front-line material handling workers. They offer industry-recognized, nationally portable credentials.
CLA is the basic program. CLT is at a mid-level. Completing CLA a prerequisite for achieving CLT. The first location offering CLA/CLT courses is the Tarrant County College Opportunity Center in Fort Worth, Tex. Other companies or colleges wishing to offer the CLA/CLT courses must have their teachers undergo a two-day training program or purchase the CLA/CLT instructor package.
For details, phone MSSC at (703) 739-9000 or on the web at http://www.msscusa.org.
